KOWIN DC’s Mission

KOWIN was established in 2001 with the launch of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in Korea. As a regional chapter, KOWIN DC is an organization of professional women of Korean heritage residing in the Washington-DC Metropolitan Area, and who hold leadership positions in their career fields. KOWIN DC’s mission is to promote a strong network among Korean female leaders, and to mentor young Korean-American women to become future leaders representing various social and professional sectors.


KOWIN DC’s Vision and Core Objectives

As women proud of our Korean heritage, we are also global citizens who understand and appreciate the cultures and traditions of our respective communities and will work to:

  • Build and promote a global network among Korean women at home and abroad
  • Promote efficient international cooperation through the promotion of networks
  • Strengthen Korea’s global competitiveness by building Korean women’s networks overseas
  • Establish a global Korean women’s network to promote women’s rights and mutually shared interests in society and politics
  • Develop and maximize female human resources
  • Expand women’s participation and leadership positions in local and national politics and society
